Cutters Wins Responsible Sports Community Grant from Liberty Mutual

Monroe County Youth Soccer has won a $2,500 Responsible Sports Community Grant from Liberty Mutual based on the number of coach and parent certifications Cutters earned through December 31, 2007.  More than 250 Cutters members helped earn this grant and furthered their education as responsible coaches and parents.

To participate in the national grant competition, parents and coaches affiliated with a sports organization took a 10-question online quiz about being a responsible sports parent or coach.  Each completion of the quiz will earned the Cutters Soccer Club one point.  The 20 organizations that earned the most points by December 31 received a $2500 grant.

For a listing of all the winners of a Responsible Sports Community Grant, see www.responsiblesports.com. Winners were announced on February 4th.

Jarrett Baughman

Cutters provides 3 of the 16 selected boys soccer players invited to the Regional Pool from the state of Indiana.

In the Indiana ODP system, over 1000+ players attend district trainings across the state to be identified and invited to participate at the state pool level. Next, the identified state pool players train together throughout the fall and winter, competing for the Indiana ODP State Team positions in each age group. Over the late spring and summer, the ODP State Team players train and attend Regional Camp in an effort to be invited to participate at the Regional Pool level.

US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions which offer a regional camp for state association ODP teams in each eligible age group. The camps are designed to provide high level competition and training for participating players. During this training and competition, players who are capable of performing at a higher level of play are identified for possible national team camp, pool, or team participation. The camp concludes with tournament play among all participating regional ODP state association teams and identification or hold-over for regional pool players. The Region II camp included teams from 13 other state associations in the Midwest.
