Answer: The number one priority of Cutters Soccer Club is to create an age appropriate environment to cultivate a life long love for the game of soccer its members. Travel soccer provides more opportunity for playing/competition and more instruction from the coaches than a recreational program. As a result, a higher level of commitment is required.
The travel soccer environment is comprised of age appropriate training topics at practice and perspective towards winning. Training should prepare each team to compete at each match. Wins are the byproduct of quality, age-appropriate training and not the focus.
Players who participate in the travel program must have an exceptionally keen interest in playing soccer and improving their skills. Junior Cutters is an intermediate travel soccer program for the U9 and U10 player. See the reason for its creation and more details about the program.
All Cutters coaches either already have licenses from a soccer governing body in the United States or are in the process of receiving them. All have played high school and club soccer, many have played at a collegiate level or higher. coach biographies
Each team will be assigned a coach who is primarily responsible for that team's training and games. Each team may also receive coaching from another member of the coaching staff or occasional guest coaches.
A player commits to playing two (fall and spring) seasons. The fall season begins in August and continues through the end of October. Winter training as a team, which is optional, begins in January and continues through the middle of March. Players are encouraged to play in November and December as well. The spring season begins in March and continues into the first week of June.
Players are expected to attend all team activities (training and games) unless there is a conflict such as an academic function or injury which prevents attendance. Teams train twice each week and have one or two games each weekend depending upon the schedule. Agility and conditioning training is also available once per week to the U11 U14 teams.
On average, the season consists of five home games that are played at Karst Soccer Complex and five away games. The five away games are not usually played at a distance of more than ninety minutes. Another area of travel may be an out of town tournament. As a team gets older and reaches a higher level of play, it may travel more.
The game of soccer can be broken down into four components. These components are technical, tactical, physical and psychological. A player's abilities in these four areas are measured by coaches.
U11 and U12 plays 8 v 8 (7 field players + goalkeeper) and has 10 14 players per team. U13 and U14 plays 11 v 11 (10 field players + goalkeeper) and has 16 18 players per team.
